I am certain that the statue of limitations in my state is 7 years. But certainly, if I try to get a loan, this bad credt will show up? It surely doesn’t just dissappear? Right?

I had a rough time a few years ago, and stopped paying my credit cards and cell phone to be able to keep paying the rent and then i lost my job, it was all sent to debt collectors. I’m ready to get this taken care of so I can rebuild my credit somehow, but I don’t know which companies hold the debts. How do I find out? I haven’t heard from any of them in almost a year.

I used to have credit cards in which where sent to collections about 3 years ago. I’ve applied for credit cards, but they all deny me due to my credit history. I was told if I have someone who has GOOD credit add me in their credit card account then that would help me bring up my credit score.
