Im 19 and im in $1,600 in credit card debt . My parents say that thats nothing compared to most peoples debt but I still feel thats alot for being 19 years old.

What happens to credit card debt when one’s parents pass away in the event that they do not have an estate, BUT the children do have an estate (real estate, etc)?

So I added up my total debt today and its about $9,500. 6,000 of it credit cards. Im 24 and wanting to finally start my life – get married, move out of my parents, build up a savings. And I want to consolidate my debt. Would you recommend going through a consolidation company such as CCCS, or going thru my bank for a loan to pay it all off so Im making one payment a month to the bank? (Im not sure I’ll be able to get a loan by myself and Im NOT asking my parents, its not an option) Or any other solutions/helpful hints? Thanks!

When I lived in Florida I tried to get DSL in my apt. I contacted Verizon to get eveything set up and they mailed me everything. I found out that the phone jack in my place was not wired at all, so I called them to cancel it. A little over a year later, a collections agency contacted my parents looking for me. I contacted them and found out what the issue was. Apparently Verizon had charged my for the little time I had the modem and service. Once I found out about the charge I immediately paid it. A couple of weeks later my credit score drops 100 pts. After a year they finally put 2 derogatory items on my report. Is there anyway to dispute this and get it off of my report. It took them a year to contact me and when they did, it only took me a few minutes to get it paid. The rest of my report is spotless, does this not count for anything?
